The Strength & Success VLOG #84
So continuing my theme on professional development and coaching.
You see what is important here is the ability to connect with people the ability to have a presence to lead people.
And so when I was talking to Matt Jevon my old Professor from the University of Bolton and he’s a brilliant practitioner in his own right he really added some structure to this.
They said at the base of the pyramid you’ve got your hard science or your knowledge, whatever that may be, so you need to understand how the body works in if you’re a PT or an S&CE coach, you need to understand the finances if you’re in business.
The next thing up there is your technical skills your ability to demonstrate
those things your ability to demonstrate the lunge, the squat, the push to pull your ability to actually do the task in hand if you’re in business.
At the top of the pyramid which is the key that the big piece here is your leadership and coaching ability.
So sure you got to have the science.
You gotta have the knowledge you’ve got to have the skills, you also need to be able to connect with people to meet them where they need to be met to lead them to have a presence to understand leadership to communicate an incredibly effective way.
What I see is people working hard on the bottom and really hard in the middle on the skills and nowhere near as hard at the top.
The top is absolutely the gold as this is where you actually get results.
You don’t get results by knowing information you get results by connecting with other human beings influencing them working with them coaching them and this is not about coaches or S&CE’s, or PT’s this is about life.
This is about people, this is about relationships work on your communication, your leadership, your skill set to influence and change and persuade people.
You will be able to move forward so fast by doing that. It’s much better for you to spend more time up at the top and back fill the other areas.
You might have seen my other video on back filling your education and that is where it comes in for me, to be a leader and to be a change agent.
Be somebody who can connect with other humans on an incredibly high level and then back-fill the rest and work in that way
