The Strength & Success VLOG #91
This video is ultimately about how to prevent injuries how to reduce injuries
In a nutshell, there are only two possible ways, everything else that you can
think of, falls into one of these two categories.
The first one is increase the load that a structure can tolerate.
So increase the load that your muscle your body.
You’re bound your area of the body can tolerate and do that through getting a stronger.
So we use strength training to do that.
The second way to reduce injuries is to reduce the load that’s going through a structure.
So for example,if you take hop and whole test we do that test to see the alignment in the body.
When somebody lands so if they’ve got Valgus in the knee that’s
creating a large amount of stress around the knee joint and then as coaches we would work to improve that ultimately reducing the load that’s going through the knee joint.
So everything else, every other way every other modality recovery strategy is going to fit into one of those two categories.
So for example, if we’re doing foam rolling that’s working on increasing the load that structure can tolerate.
Electronic muscle stimulation is used to activate muscles increasing the load that a structure can tolerate.
If we do osteopathy and manipulative work in the spine that’s reducing the load that
goes through a given structure.
Everything that we do falls into one of those two categories and so really as a coach,
I need to get people stronger increase the loads that muscles tendons and bones can tolerate and I need to improve movement efficiency.
It really is that simple.
